Was skipping around the internet the other day, researching, ok shopping, for fine Victorian Accessories when I kept coming upon this term: Steampunk.
Turns out it is a genre of fiction wrapped in the imagination of Dark Victorian and Time Machines, intersecting more at the crossroads of technology and romance. Steampunk gained it's prominence during the late 1980's and early 1990's gaining a massive underground appeal.
Now Steampunk with its subculture of art, music, and literary arts, is emerging slowly from the
underground. To get a more visual rendition of Steampunk, think Victorian Goth, without the vampires or dark crafts, or ouch, piercings!
Steampunk is making its imprint on the fashion world with hats, accessories, and glorious lace and ruffles. Add in a touch of mechanical and technology to your wardrobe, and you've got it.
